The other day someone asked why doesn’t the Lay Z Spa manual go into more detail about chemical usage?
Well, I believe its due to 2 reasons -
Firstly, everyones water is different. It will vary by the hardness, how often the spa is used, the temperature maintained and how much oil (from lotions etc) is introduced into the spa from skin. There are probably plenty of other reasons that I have missed.
These variations mean that the chemicals and the quantity used to maintain the spa are different for everyone – it may be that your water does not maintain its chlorine level or that the ph balance drops very quickly.
It would be nice if a simple add so much of this or that rule would work for all but it does not. However, its not too complicated. You simply use your water test strips (part of a chemical starter pack or available separately) and then, after looking at the results, follow the instructions on your chemicals. They will tell you what to add and in what measure. For my spa, I have quickly learnt how my water likes to be treated. It’s easy! Honest.
The other reason is that the chemicals and their concentrations vary between brands. One measure of one manufacturers may not be the same as that of anothers.
Water maintenance is very important. We would suggest getting the Bestway Spa Chemical starter pack with every spa. It contains all that you should need to get going and is available at a good price. It has a descent Spa water guide with it too.
So thats why the Lay Z Spa manual does not get too involved in maintaining the spa with chemicals. It leaves all that instruction to the guide supplied with the Chemical Starter Pack.
