Cost to Run a Lay Z Spa?
2008-06-18 15:59 | Tips | Permalink |

One of the most important considerations of running a spa is the cost to heat it. Electricity seems to get more expensive by the day so I thought that a discussion on how to heat your spa is needed.

My own personal spa – My electricity is on the Economy 7 tariff and so I try to use that whenever possible. I switch the heating on around midnight and manually turn off when I awake. The spa is set to 40C and will achieve that when I turn off. We would normally use the spa anytime after 4pm and in this unheated period the spa loses about 3C so it is around 37C. That’s still a very nice temperature and means our spa is running as cheaply as possible.

I will post up some electricity consumption detail next week.

How are you heating your Lay Z Spa? Please comment below.

RCD Plug
2008-06-18 13:47 | Tips | Permalink |

As you may know, the plug of the Lay Z Spa has a built-in RCD.
This means that the plug is larger than of a standard UK plug. If you install an outside waterproof mains socket of the kind that the cover snaps shut to maintain its waterproofness, you will find that cover of the socket will not close and may not be waterproof anymore.

Don’t forget, if in any doubt regarding electricity get the assistance of a qualified electrician.

The Lid

Just a quick tip – make sure your lid clips are secure on your Lay Z Spa.
It would be a pain if the lid was to blow away!
